Making Friends

I am tinkert and i am going to answer your question. It is very easy to make freinds I had the same experience because everybody apart from 1 person I know went to Bingley Grammer and now i have loads of new freinds.

well the population hmmm...im not really sure about that question but i can say that there are a lot of students id say that there is propably an equal emount of girls and boys in beckfoot !

Hi Jenna!

Its poppycat going to answer your question. The school is quite alot bigger than other schools because it all on one level. We are going to get a new school in about 2 years (ish) So we will all be gettin lost then. I didn't get lost very ofter because I went round with a group of newly made friends so they helped me along. There is a chance you can get lost but you have a map in your planner which is like your school bible for the first 2 weeks of school. And I havn't looked at it for about 6 months.

Tell a teacher! Even if you get bullied by that same person. Nobody should get bullied, this school has about point blob of a percent of bullies! Seriously though, if you do see a person by bullied tell, even if you are being bullied, tell, the teachers don't take kindly to bullies. They will probably give the person an isolation or something.

Hi Bob,

The other years don't pick on you, that's a myth. They're actually mostly nice, but there are some that aren't, my advice is, if you've seen them being mean, or they've been mean to you before, don't annoy them. If you see anyone being mean or bullying you, tell a teacher! That way you will get the last laugh!

Hiya its poppy cat! (As per usual)

It is scary on your first week. But its just like joining a new club. You think the worst will happen but it ain't gonna happen here! I felt really left out on my first week because I only had one friend from my primary school. I am friends with basicly everyone in the tutor group now! So its great! You get lots of benefits on your first couple of weeks. Like you don't get late codes if you get lost. And so on... and so on...... and so on...........................

Hi, I'm spud,

On your first day, all year 7's meet up in the courtyard, then all the year 7 tutor teachers will come out and tell you what tutor group you're in, then you get in line with your tutor group and go in  to your 1st assembly! In there, you sit in rows for your tutor group and Mr Horn (headteacher), Mrs Brabury (Transition Mentor) and Mrs Sawley (Year head for Year 7).

Then, once that  has finished, you go with your tutor group to your tutor room.You will be given your "Learning Journal" and you write your name on the front. Then you will be given your timetable, to write in your Learning Journal. Then you just get to know your tutor group, and talk and do friend-making activities, then I think it's on your 3rd day, you go to your lessons from whenever your tutor tells you. Then on the next day, you do normal lessons all day, and see the near 2 thousand people in the school, don't worry if you feel like you shouldn't be with all the big kids, so did I! But, by 2 or 3 days of normal lessons.

Hi I'm Fish. Its not scary coming to school because the bus driver are really kind. But you might want to get on the bus with some friends, coz travelling alone isn't much fun!

Hi its poppycat. Of course your scared when you start something a new school! Its completely normal! Everyone will make AT LEAST 3 friends here at Beckfoot. So there is nothing to worry about. TA! TTFN!

Hi this is Poppycat and i'm going to answer your question/ worry.

I am not saying that there is NO bullying at Beckfoot but there is ALOT less than at primary school. If your friendships arn't good at primary school then don't worry! You are bound to make ATLEAST 4 friends at this school in your tutor group alone! You don't have to keep friends with your other people at primary. At my primary school I had a similar problem because the teachers did not listen to me at all when I got bullied. If there is a few nice people in your class that you still havn't spoken to make friends with them! This will be good practice for making friends at secondary AND you will feel more comfortable at school.

Try to tell the Head teacher about it more and more and soon she will listen. Try to talk to the nasty girls about WHY they are bullying you. Sometimes they have a reason.

Hi this is poppycat. It is extremly easy. At the first weeks of school you do loads of bonding activities so its really easy to make friends. Everyones friendly here so its really easy.

Hi i'm poppycat. I had the exact same problem. I only had one person from my school going but do you know what? I'm fine now!!!! Everyone is so friendly and helpful here so you will have nothing to worry about. If your shy then someone will probobly come over to you! You will be fine but if your not you can always talk to your form tutor or Mrs Sawley or Mrs Bradbury who are the transition people.
